Having trouble finding a place to park?

You're not the only one.
Why not conduct a bike parking survey of your local train station. Results of the survey will be collated to provide a comprehensive audit of bicycle parking facilities at train stations across the CityRail network. This survey will be used not only to identify gaps but to demonstrate 'best practice' within the provision of bike parking facilities.

If you have any photos from your survey, please forward them to sydneybicycleparking@gmail.com and they can be posted on this blog.

Yes, I suppose this is a big issue for people who may want to catch a train or a bus. I don't feel confident that if i have to leave my bike overnight, it will still be there in the morning.

Usually, i have to chain my bike up to a pole, which is often a bit risky as it can fall over quite easily if it is loaded up with luggage.

By the way, if anyone wants to comment on Holroyd Council's Bike Plan its up for comment. http://tinyurl.com/3payfc

Hi Paul,
Thanks for taking part in the survey. Leaving bikes overnight can bit risky although I've always kept a 'junky' bike for those occasions.

With regards to the pole, people often forget to tie the chain around lots of times so it can't fall down.

BicycleNSW do have secure lockers at some stations which might be of interest to you.

Your Wolli Creek photo shows some bikes parked outside, but apparently Wolli Creek station has some well hidden BNSW lockers that even the station master doesn't know about.

Your Sydenham photo shows an empty bike rack, but on the other side of the entrance there are often a dozen or so bikes parked at the other rack and nearby fence. My daughter had her well-locked bike completely stripped at Sydenham, which might explain why most bikes there are just junkers.

Ministry of Transport's guidelines for interchange facilities.

Thought you may like to take a look at it. Usually, the process of installing infrastructure starts at this level and worth commenting on (if possible).
